Absolutely beautiful and exciting dining experience. The cherry on the top- kids friendly. It has been quite a while that we felt so satisfied and amazed after eating out at a restaurant. Every single plate is a must try and you will not regret it. Come with an empty stomach so you have a good capacity to explore all the options. Angie and Ron are super lovely and friendly, and they know their food. We had four entrees, then a main and a whole baby snapper. Desserts are great ending for the dining experience. Highly recommended, we will come back for the dry aged duck and grilled market fish.

Very delicious food! The lobster and prawn mafaldine was absolutely amazing. It was also lovely meeting and chatting with the manager Angela—she made the experience even more enjoyable. Will definitely be coming back again!

For any special occasion, we will be booking this place again and again. We reserved it for a group of 8 to celebrate a 40th birthday, and both the service and food were absolutely outstanding. From the very first 10 seconds, we were warmly greeted at the door by the lovely “mama bear” owner, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. We ordered multiple starters and mains to share, and everything was simply delicious. Standouts included the beef tartare, the spicy margarita cocktails, the whole snapper (which, as you can see from the photos, we picked clean because it was that good) and the whole duck which was pure indulgence—layer upon layer of yum. The couple who owns and runs the restaurant were incredibly attentive, checking in with us throughout the evening and even giving my friend, the birthday boy, a warm hug. We will definitely be back—no question about it.

Honestly the best service and food my partner and I have had in a while! Ange was so lovely and accommodating and recommended us the best meals !! The pork is a must have. You can tell the chef is phenomenal due to the way he cooked the kingfish. We also always order a beef tartar when eating out, this one by far is the best we have had. Will be coming back here and telling all our friends!

Came here due to the good reviews and the love for seafood. Definitely did not disappoint. All the waitresses and the bartender were super attentive and provided excellent service. Their genuineness impressed my partner and I, and we always felt taken care of. But not as much as the quality and flavours of the food we were provided. I loved the all the entrees, especially the crumpets, Bao’s and the spanner crab. The red snapper and squid ink pasta were to die for. The hojicha basque cheesecake was especially delicious being a huge fan for Japanese tea. This local business is a wonderful institution to Manly for their food and service. Would highly recommend and thank you for taking good care of us!

Went to The Herring Room in Manly for my partner’s birthday on Tuesday and honestly had the best experience. The service was beyond amazing — the owner personally walked us through the menu and you could just feel how passionate he is about the food. There was also a lovely lady who looked after us — she was so sweet and made us feel super welcome from the moment we arrived. One of the sweetest things was when he noticed my partner was struggling to read the menu, and brought over reading glasses. Just such a thoughtful gesture that really stuck with us. The food was so beautifully done, everything had its own unique flavour, and the whole place just had this warm, welcoming vibe. Couldn’t recommend it more — such a gem.

An unforgettable dining experience - "Flawless from start to finish!" We had the absolute pleasure of dining at The Herring Room and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism by Angela and Rodney, whose outstanding service truly elevated the entire afternoon. Their attention to detail, genuine hospitality, and beautiful energy made us feel completely at home. Now, the food.. wow!!! Every dish was a masterclass in flavour and presentation. We ordered plenty, such as the Braised & Hibachi TAS Octopus, which was tender, smoky, and perfectly balanced. The WA Rock Lobster & QLD Prawn Mafaldine was rich, indulgent, and bursting with fresh seafood goodness. The Banana Rum Baba was a delightful finish.. boozy, sweet, and just the right amount of decadent. But the absolute standout of the day was the Crispy NZ Whole Baby Red Snapper with onion, ginger, and sweet soy glaze. It was hands-down one of the best fish dishes we have ever had (and my son Damien said "this dish changed my perspective of having fish now!!"). The crispy skin, succulent flesh, and a glaze tied everything together beautifully. We were still talking about it the next day! Thanks to the kitchen team, Danny, Henokh & others! The ambience is relaxed yet refined, perfect for a special day or night out or a memorable celebration. Every element, from the service to the food to the atmosphere, was top class. We left feeling full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend The Herring Room to anyone who appreciates exceptional food and heartfelt service. A true gem in Sydney’s dining scene!

If I could give six stars I would! This was my first time dining at The Herring room and it certainly won’t be the last. This gorgeous intimate restaurant has an inviting and warm atmosphere. Every single meal we ordered was delectable and cleverly presented. I highly recommend the slow cooked TAS octopus, smoked fish mousse and the black mussels accompanied with a Shiraz. The staff were attentive and accommodating. I certainly look forward to returning and having another remarkable dining experience.
